Linda Sue Turner, long-time Earlsboro resident, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the age of 64 peacefully in her sleep at home.
She was born May 27, 1953 in Norman, Oklahoma to Joseph and Genevie Barnard. She married Curtis Ray Turner on October 8, 1971 in Moore, Oklahoma. Soon after they married the couple moved to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina while Curtis served in the United Stated Marine Corps.
They returned to Oklahoma and made Earlsboro their permanent family around 1977. Linda worked as a bank teller until they welcomed their first child in 1978. From that moment she was a stay at home mom. She took great pride in being able to stay home raise their two children. She spent many years volunteering at Earlsboro Public Schools, PTA, Classroom mom, decorating committees for prom, home-comings and graduations; she did it all.
Linda enjoyed being outdoors, loved flowers, feeding the birds, gardening, cook-outs and mowing the yard.
Few things in life gave her more joy than being promoted from a stay at home mom to "Gram" by the birth of their first grandson, Mason in December of 2003 and followed by Madux in 2009. Being their Gram was one of the highlights of her life. She could often be found helping with homework, reading books, telling Little Johnny stories or just being snuggled up with one of her boys. Her grandsons loved her but she loved them even more.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of almost 46 years, Curtis Turner of the home; her children, Curtis Michael Turner and Trisha Lin Whitman and her sons, Mason and Madux; her brother, Terry Barnard; sister, Diann Pospisil and sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and David Freed, all of Moore, Oklahoma. She is also survived by Curtis' family, Cletis Odell and Martha Turner of Earlsboro, Dianna and Bobby Smith of Moore and Sharon and Kenneth Gunter also of Moore; 12 nieces and nephews and 26 great nieces and nephews with 1 more on the way in August 2017. Each nephew and niece had their special nickname to their aunt Linda and she loved them all as if they were her own children.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Genevie Barnard and brother-in-law, Richard Pospisil.
A celebration of Linda's Life will be held Friday, June 16, 2017 at Praise Assembly in Shawnee, Oklahoma at 11:00 a.m. There will be a private burial with the family at a later date.
