Floyd D. Roland, longtime resident of Bethel Acres, celebrated his Homecoming on Oct. 9, 2016, at his home in Bethel.
Floyd graduated from Shawnee High School in 1968, and began a career in home building and construction, that lasted 48 years.

As a member of Shawnee Home Builders, he was proud to have worked on the Owen Stadium press box and post offices in Konawa and Cromwell. His mark was left in Shawnee, where he build many custom homes, and homes in the Gray Dove, Windmill Ridge, and Hyatt Additions, throughout Pottowatomie and Seminole...

Floyd graduated from Shawnee High School in 1968, and began a career in home building and construction, that lasted 48 years.

As a member of Shawnee Home Builders, he was proud to have worked on the Owen Stadium press box and post offices in Konawa and Cromwell. His mark was left in Shawnee, where he build many custom homes, and homes in the Gray Dove, Windmill Ridge, and Hyatt Additions, throughout Pottowatomie and Seminole counties.

Floyd married his high school sweetheart, Jacque Logsdon, on Aug. 19, 1967. They were married in Shawnee at the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church. They moved between Shawnee, Oklahoma, Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, and Norman, Oklahoma, before settling in Bethel Acres to raise their family.

Floyd was a man of few hobbies and even fewer words. However, he was a man of great generosity. Floyd was always ready to help friends and family and gave willingly of his resources. He helped many get their start in the construction industry.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jacquelyn Gail, three sons, Floyd Kevin Roland and wife Tanya, Benny Dwain Roland, and Jimmy Wayne Roland, all of Bethel. Three grandsons include Matthew Roland and wife Lydia, of Norman, Paul Caleb Roland, and Jacob Roland, Shawnee; one granddaughter Kaylee Roland, Shawnee; two brothers, Steve Roland and wife Norma, and Richard Roland, both of Macomb. Floyd also had four sisters-in-law: Sharon Lamonica and husband David, Houston, Texas; Cookie Johnson, Shawnee, Connie Wilkins and husband Dale, Blanket, Texas, and Katheryn Rush and husband Michael, Edmond; one brother-in-law: Truman Carter, Shawnee, numerous nieces and nephews, one aunt Yvonne (Freeman) and Ray York of Oklahoma City, and his mother-in-law Dorothy Logsdon, Houston, Texas.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents Artivee Dwain and Audrey Ethel (Freeman) Roland, and a sister, Audrey Jolene Carter.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 14, at New Life Church, 1231 E. 10th in Shawnee
